
MICHAEL WHITTON started out as a self-taught musician/songwriter and transitioned to a writer/director for stage. He studied theater and music at the University of Nevada-Reno and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, receiving the Neil Simon Scholarship Award for Acting. After graduation, Michael helped form a professional, award-winning theatre company (NPHC) in Hollywood and produced numerous stage productions. He later wrote and directed three plays (Patricia Holding, Coming In Dead, At Gunpoint), published the travel-book series From This Angle: Photographs—then penned feature scripts Forever And Ever Guy and At Gunpoint, which placed in the esteemed Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. Michael is an Honors Alum of the Los Angeles Film School where he was awarded the LAFS Internal Scholarship and product grants from KODAK and Source Film Studio to help complete his Super 16 short Trumped, which won a Premiere at FirstGlance Film Fest Philadelphia as well as garnered the accolades: Best Drama (Ivy Film Festival) and Best Short (FirstGlance Shorts Online); he also authored Trumped: A Short Film, a making-of book detailing his pre-thru-post production process. Mr. Whitton made his directorial debut in film with Trumped and recently jumped to feature film directing with the urban comedy Exit Strategy (2012), which premiered theatrically in AMC Theatres and expands into Rave Cinemas across the U.S. on March 9, 2012. Michael resides in Los Angeles, California.
